Welcome to Fremont! No matter what brings you here, you'll find a great sense of community. We celebrate a rich history here that goes back to 1856. Our namesake, John C. Fremont, would be amazed to see how we've grown. Let me share a small sampling of what Fremont has to offer.
Let's start on Main Street in our historic downtown. You'll find a small-town atmosphere that's friendly, and inviting. Explore antique shops galore, enjoy amazing baked goods and make sure to stop at a local cafe. Shopping choices include sporting goods, clothing and bridal wear. If you're here for lunch or dinner, your choices abound, from classic Italian to Nebraska's best steak. Our local hospitality and service are sure keep you coming back!
Ready for some fun? Make sure to visit the Fremont State Lakes for all kinds of recreational activities - boating, camping, hiking, biking or just pure relaxation. If you're looking for something a little quieter, take in the serenity of one of our beautiful city parks.
Fremont is a community of 26,342 with a strong agribusiness economy. We're just 25 miles northwest of Omaha with expanding residential development and commercial business parks. Our central location in eastern Nebraska and access workforce make it perfect to start or relocate your business to Fremont. Thanks to a recent expansion, our municipal airport is ideal for both corporate jets and private aviation.
Our location provides families a small-town feel, but is close to the amenities of larger metropolitan areas. We are the perfect location to live, work, and raise a family. Not to mention we are home to the largest YMCA in the United States! If you like to stay active, we are the community for you. Our utility rates are some of the lowest in the state and Fremont was recently voted Nebraska’s best tasting water!
Our tremendous quality of life here in Fremont is enhanced by easy access to quality healthcare and education right here at home. Equipped with leading technology, Fremont Methodist Health attracts some of the most talented doctors in the region. Named one of the top 100 community hospitals in the nation, Methodist Fremont Health is one of the city’s largest employers and strongest supporters.
Parents know that our public and private grade schools are also top notch. Fremont Public Schools was the first school district in Nebraska to be awarded the North Central Accreditation Commission’s Accreditation Quality Achievement Award. And for undergraduate degrees or continuing higher education, Fremont is home to both Midland University and Metropolitan Community College.
As Mayor of Fremont, I hope you enjoy your time in Fremont. If you're visiting, please come see us again soon! If you’re looking at making Fremont your home, we can’t wait to welcome you to our community! Here We Grow!
Joey Spellerberg, Mayor
