Landlord / Tenant Concerns

  1. Landlord / Tenant Concerns - English
  2. Preocupaciones del propietario/inquilino - Español

The City of Fremont does not have a landlord / tenant ordinance. The City has authority to enforce the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code. All other landlord / tenant issues are civil matters.

Legal Aid of Nebraska has created a Landlord and Tenant Handbook that can be referred to for guidance. The document covers topics which include problems while renting, documenting repair requests and landlord / tenant responsibilities among other items. The Legal Aid of Nebraska Landlord/ Tenant Handbook can be found here.

The City of Fremont does not test for mold; if you believe you have a mold problem in your rented residence, please contact an Air Quality Testing Company.

If you are a tenant under a landlord / tenant agreement and believe the property does not conform to the 2018 International Property Maintenance Code, Code Enforcement can do a walk-through of the property. Please note, if any dangers of an eminent nature are discovered, you will be required to vacate the property immediately until the issue(s) are remedied. In order to schedule a walk-through, please contact our Inspections Department at 402.727.2636.
