[ARCHIVED] Fremont Takes National Award

Water

The American Water Works Association announced that the Fremont Department of Utilities won the eighth annual “Best of the Best” water taste test held this week at its annual conference.

“Fremont won the best tasting water award in Nebraska in 2011 and 2010, but this is Fremont’s first national taste test award,” according to Larry Andreasen, Water and Sewer Superintendent.

Fremont gets its water from the nine wells in the High Plains Alluvial Aquifer, with an average well depth of 90 feet. The Utility pumps five million gallons per day through 160 miles of main to serve 28,000 customers.
