[ARCHIVED] Marshall honored for Service

On September 29, Mayor Scott Getzschman announced the naming of Fremont’s natural gas-fired combustion turbine plant. The Derril G. Marshall Generating Station provides energy during high energy demand periods. Derril was instrumental in identifying the need for this generating station and overseeing its construction. Commissioned in November 2003, it is located at 200 South Johnson Road, east of the Lon D. Wright Power Plant.

The honor was bestowed upon Marshall as his 40-year career with the City culminates mid-October. Marshall was hired in 1975 as the City Engineer. He served as the Director of Public Works for 20 years beginning in 1979. In 1999, Marshall was appointed as the General Manager of the Utilities.

The public is invited to attend a reception honoring Marshall on October 16 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 400 East Military.
