[ARCHIVED] Power Outage Resolved

The City of Fremont was installing a piece of equipment in Substation A next to the power plant at approximately 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20. When that piece of equipment was powered back up, an error occurred tripping the substation offline. About 3,000 customers in the southeast area of the city were temporarily without power. This incident also tripped off the City’s larger unit #8. The two existing tie lines, serving as backup, kept the rest of the City’s lights on. Some customers saw power blink while others were without power immediately. Equipment was fixed, substation A was back online after half an hour without power. Unit 8 is still not back online and will take approximately two hours to regenerate, but there should be no more outages due to this incident.
