Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians will soon have access to Jack Sutton Drive, which connects Luther Road and Johnson Road. The opening will be commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. at the east end of the roadway officiated by Mayor Scott Getzschman. The project’s namesake, the late Jack Sutton, was a long-term City Administrator, serving from 1967 to 2003. In commemoration to Jack’s work, Mrs. Pat Sutton will assist Mayor Getzschman in cutting the ribbon at the dedication.
Designed to alleviate traffic congestion and promote safety, the new roadway offers an alternative to Military Avenue during the busy student drop-off and pick-up hours. The City of Fremont has coordinated with the School District to provide a traffic control officer for a short period of time starting Thursday, November 3, 2016. The officer will direct traffic and keep the flow moving during the initial adjustment period when new patterns are developing.
Fremont Public Schools provides a guide with four separate traffic patterns to help direct traffic for parents dropping off students. The patterns are building specific, so please review the maps on the Fremont Public Schools website to get more information.
