Fire Pup and Captain Jamie Meyer presented Clarmar School with the Junior Fire Marshal Program Traveling Trophy on December 14th.
The Junior Fire Marshal Program is held during fire prevention week. All Fremont kindergarten through fourth grade students are given a “Home Safety Checklist” to perform with the help of parents/guardians. They go through their homes to look for fire hazards and correct problems to assure that they have fire-safe homes. Both the student and parent/guardian sign the checklist, return it to the school, and then the fire department picks up the checklists.
The school with the highest return rate receives the traveling trophy for the year. Clarmar School had 90% of the checklists returned. Return rates for other schools were: Grant 61%, Linden 43%, Trinity 38%, Howard 31%, Milliken Park 30%, Bell Field 28%, Bergan Elementary 22%, and Washington 17%.
