[ARCHIVED] The Sledding Hill Open!

Snow Angle

Kim Koski, Parks and Rec Director said there are several factors that go into making snow. First, it has to be cold—single digits are best—and the ground has to be frozen.
Then an overcast and calm day is best, so the sun doesn’t melt the snow or the wind doesn’t blow it away. Last, it takes about seven hours to completely cover the hill.  She noted there is only a portable restroom in the parking lot, as the permanent restrooms have been winterized.  Sledding activities may be short lived, however, as temperatures this week don’t look too promising for snow-filled activities. The light on the hill is on a timer and goes off at 11 p.m., when the park closes or when the Clemmons Sled Hill is not suitable for use.
