[ARCHIVED] Scammers are at it again!

Scam Alert

The caller (scammer) threatens to shut off electricity in 30 minutes unless the person makes a payment over the phone or they will show up at the customers’ home or business to disconnect power.  Customers are cautioned not to talk to these phony bill collectors. These scammers sometimes identify themselves as Fremont Utility employees and also may use the OPPD utility name.  Customers have reported that the telephone “caller ID” for the scammer matches a valid OPPD telephone number.

Utility employees do not take payments or financial information over the telephone nor do we collect bill payments at your home or business.  All utility bill notices are mailed to the customer.

Contact Customer Service at 402.727.2600 if you are uncertain about any communication from the Utilities that seems suspicious. Secure on-line bill payment options can be accessed at www.fremontne.gov/.
