Annexations to the City of Fremont that took place during 2017 have a January 1, 2018 effective date for city sales tax rates. Sales and deliveries in those areas made on or after January 1, 2018 should include Fremont’s 1.5% sales tax rate.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has not yet updated its records as some of the properties have only recently begun development. As a result, when entering any new addresses on the Nebraska Department of Revenue (NDOR)’s website rate finder, you will likely get a message that states, “Unable to verify with USPS”. The state’s sales tax rate of 5.5% will be the only one listed.
The City has confirmed with the NDOR, that the correct rates for these locations are 5.5% State sales tax and 1.5% City of Fremont sales tax.
The Costco/Lincoln Premium Poultry complex is one property that was annexed in 2017. City sales tax applies to all sales and deliveries made on or after January 1, 2018.
