The month of May is National Fall Prevention Month. The City of Fremont is hosting a Stand-Down on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at Christensen Field Main Arena, 1730 W 16th St, Fremont, NE 68025 to raise fall hazard awareness. We will also cover Ladder Safety and Trenching Safety.
The stand-down will provide education and training on the topics listed above in an effort to stop fatalities and injuries. A Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event for employers to talk directly to employees about safety. Any workplace can hold a stand-down by taking a break to focus on safety and other job hazards they face, protective methods, and the company's safety policies and goals. It can also be an opportunity for employees to talk to management about job hazards they see.
We are inviting all Fremont area businesses to join us at this event. Bring your entire crew/business or just send a few to attend this 50-minute event. All area businesses and general public are welcome to attend.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be our guest speaker. Outside contractors whom are exposed to falls, ladders and trenches in construction or general industry are highly encouraged to attend this event. Your staff will have the opportunity to take away good practices from standing down and taking a moment to realize the hazards that can be prevented with minimal efforts.
If a contractor has an idea, story, etc. they would like to share with everyone at the Stand-Down, please contact City of Fremont Safety Manager, Brandon Laubscher at brandon.laubscher@fremontne.gov or 402-719-1649. The Stand-Down is scheduled for Wednesday May 29, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. at Christensen Field Main Arena, 1730 W 16th St, Fremont, NE 68025.
