With so many of Fremont’s residents out of work because their employer has been shut down or been placed under severe operating restrictions, helping people pay their utility bills is now more important than ever.
The City of Fremont, in cooperation with the Fremont Area United Way, has a voluntary program called Care & Share to help those needing assistance paying their utility bill. The program has been in existence for many years, helping hundreds of households during difficult times.
Anyone wanting to help can make a one-time donation or ongoing donations by adding a dollar or two to their monthly utility bill. To make a donation, fill out the Care & Share signup form. The form can be found here. Return the completed form and donation to Customer Service, 400 East Military Avenue, Fremont, NE 68025.
While the City will not disconnect residential accounts for non-payment of utility services during these difficult times, customers will still be responsible to pay their bill. Customers are encouraged to call the Department of Utilities to make payment arrangements rather than waiting until the COVID-19 pandemic subsides and they find themselves with a sizable outstanding balance. The Department of Utilities Customer Service can be reached at 402-727-2600.
If you are in need of assistance, please contact the Fremont Area United Way at 402-721-4157.
