Forestry Licenses


All persons desiring to do forestry work within the City of Fremont must be licensed. There are three types of forestry licenses for the City of Fremont:

  • 1st Class Arborist
  • 2nd Class Arborist
  • 1st Class Pest Treatment Only

The licensing period for all arborists is from January 1st to December 31 of each year. The following is the requirements to obtain a license within the City of Fremont:

  • You must be 18 years old.
  • Liability insurance with the City of Fremont named as additional insured (see below for details)
  • Exam fee and license fee

Requirements


Applicant must provide liability coverage for accidents arising out of work as a tree expert of at least One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) for the injury or death of any one person, Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000) for the injury or death of any number of persons in any one accident, and with a coverage of at least Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) for property damage in any one accident for holders of first class licenses. The City will accept liability certificate with amounts above the required.


Application before the Board of Forestry for examination. Exam fee: $25.00 for second class; $45.00 for first class.


Reciprocity with cities of the first class or larger in the state only or proof of a certified arborist with the Nebraska Arborists Association. Application fee: $20.00 for second or first class.


Annual renewal fee: $35.00 for either second or first class

**One year grace period. If not renewed at end of grace period, re-examination and/or application is required.
